n.b. the content below has been lifted from the Strongroom CC Whatsapp group chat, the morning after this game, where a spontaneous review of the game was expressed by David Proctor. Please enjoy it in this spirit:
Strongroom won yesterday in the end. Classic Highgate stodge took 20 wickets in just over 40 overs. Late arrivals, loaned players, planes, public transport and a smattering of motorbikes throwing in some curved ball timing meant we rejigged the batting order. Only 4 batsmen into double figures all day I think, extras top scoring - not unusual. SR bowled out for 101. Ali Hassan played for both teams batting twice, James 'international' Schneider bowled a tidy few overs with Mohmet Godhi probably the pick of SR attack (4-7) skittling four Hobgoblins in the middle - swinging the ball prodigiously and game our way.
Decent tea, sainsburys bought. Custard tarts made their debut, masses of samosas and self made cheese ham sandwiches. 4/10. Emmental roundly dismissed by Jimmy. Back to Gouda next week?
Bowled out the Hobgoblins for 50 odd. Champagne moment was a direct hit run out by a very hung over Tim Moore. Cracking victory in the end. Feel like I've been shot in the heart though today. Landed on the ball off the last ball of hobgoblins' innings taking a catch. Punctured lung or knackered intercostal, whatevs it's bloody sore!!! It's now 5:15 a.m. And I've been awake since 2:30... Onwards over the fallen. DP.
I'd just add a line about dynamite Steve Hamilton nicking out a couple of crafty wickets (as usual) and the hobgoblins bowler (Harry) who took four for 3 off 7. For balance.
