David Siddal made his Strongroom captaincy debut, and promptly loss the toss. The toss was just not going our way. Tim Moore bowled well and induced a couple of edges behind, and Grant also bowled with considerable skill and claimed two wickets. Clinton pegged back an off-stump in some style, but, in amidst all this good bowling, Anil, a diminutive left-hander compiled a classy ton, and was the platform for their big total of 276. Fielding was tough today, and we were tested throughout the innings. Siddal took a great catch and kept wicket and made good bowling changes and field movements throughout. Ian Hutchcroft claimed his first wicket in Nepal, and Joe produced yet another quality spell.
Sadly, our batting was generally very poor in response. Apart from David Siddal, Ujjal and Vinay, no one else managed to rise into double figures. Ujjal and Vinay both looked really comfortable, but Ujjal’s wicket prompted a devastating hat-trick from local teenage speedster Samir. The young Pokhara XI fielded with some skill throughout. This was our most disappointing outing yet, and this left us with the final game the following day to salvage some redemption!
