This was a truly epic game We lost the toss A cloudy cool day Jags batted really well and sensibly against some tight bowling Godhi was (again) really good and Raj bowled with considerable skill, beating the outside edge repeatedly Riaz got in from Pakistan at 4am, and this was first game of season, but he bowled beautifully as always Shishank and JG both limping due to leg injuries Shishank snared two good catches at slip Jags were once about 120-2...but then we clawed our way back Good running catches by DG and Ekam Vinay took a 5-for, bowled again with good pace and variations Jags did well in last 10 overs, ended on a strong 185 - anything above 180 at the woods is always a challenging target
Vinay’s waitrose tea, good options for everyone
Immediately we were entertained by a truly audacious and aggressive start from Mo’ Godhi, who only opened the batting as he had to leave the game in 45 mins He crashed Eccles around in a way I had not seen before. He took risks, wore no helmet, driving, cutting and hooking with glee 46-1 after 6 overs - tremendous energy which provided us with a great platform and sense of purpose Ilyas scored an excellent and patient 20, including some nicely timed drives Indrajit finally got a score (33) and showed off some lovely shots square of the wicket on both sides DG dug in for a patient 10 JG then scored 33*, though wickets fell at the other end as Eccles came back for a burst to take key wickets Ended up with final pair JG and Riaz at the crease needing 8 to win Finally JG hit a 4 through the covers and that was it...a rare victory over the Jags in a fantastic game that all enjoyed Everyone contributed something for SCC in this exciting and tight win
