I’m in a rush, so I’ll keep this one brief!
Strongroom bat first on a lovely hot day. David Gower [41] and James Claro [47] give a masterclass in shot selection, and put on 95 in 19 overs for the opening wicket. This platform is brutally exploited by Jon Gower [80*] and Abhay Garg [64]. Both batsmen hoist some massive 6’s, and pulverise 97 from their 10 overs together. Bohemians actually bowl well, but suffer from the fast outfield.
Tea Report: 7/10 A decent yet dull ‘club’ tea. Good to catch some test cricket on the TV though.
Bohemians give Strongroom a slight scare, as Kanwar and Meier attack from the outset. Strongroom take 20 overs to work out how to bowl on this curious ground, but ‘The Horse’ and Abhay manage to wrest back some control, as does a back-to-business Proctor. Simon Ray also bowls with real venom down the hill, beating the batsmen regularly with fast away-swing.
Strongroom finally dismiss Bohemians for 207, sealing a very satisfactory weekend.
